At the turn of every season, wardrobes across the UK seem to erupt in fabric chaos. Winter coats out, summer dresses in – and vice versa. But unlike seasonal weather, fast fashion’s leftovers don’t just disappear. In fact, a staggering 300,000 tonnes of clothing are sent to landfill every year in the UK alone. That’s enough to fill Wembley Stadium… several times over.
But here in East Yorkshire, we’re pushing back. One jumper, one pair of jeans, one dress at a time. At Envirofriendly Recycling, our network of 120 textile banks is helping people part with their unwanted clothing in a way that’s socially and environmentally responsible.
So the next time you’re tempted to bin that barely-worn shirt? Let Yorkshire’s answer to landfill say: “Thanks, but no thanks.”
