Fast Fashion’s Dirty Little Secret — And How We’re Cleaning It Up

They say fashion fades, but landfill is forever. In the UK alone, more than 350,000 tonnes of clothing end up in landfill each year — that’s the equivalent of filling Wembley Stadium to the brim with textiles no one wants. Fast fashion has made clothes cheap, accessible and, unfortunately, disposable. But at Envirofriendly Recycling (EMEA) Limited, we’re changing the narrative.

With 120 textile banks across Hull and East Yorkshire, we offer a simple, local way to make a global difference. We collect and sort unwanted clothing, ensuring it either finds a new home or is recycled responsibly. From everyday items to one-off finds, we give garments a second chance to shine.

Our impact goes beyond environmental. By employing local people and making charitable donations to landowners, we’re building a business rooted in social good. Our work helps reduce landfill, supports families and keeps perfectly good clothes in circulation.

Every donation counts. Every garment matters. Together, we can tackle the wasteful culture of fast fashion and build a more sustainable future — one coat, one bank, one community at a time.
